200 Major H. C. Harriott served with the 82nd Regiment in the Crimea from the 2nd Sept. 1854, including the sieg
and fall of Sevastopol TMedal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Also served in the N.W. Provinces in suppression
the Indian Mutiny in 1857-58, and was present in the operations at Cawnpore under General "Windham, defeat ther
of the Gwalior Contingent, actions of Kale Nuddee and Khankur, siege of the Jail, and subsequent operations a
Shahjehanpore (Brevet of Major, and Medal).
201 Major Matson joined the force in Now Zealand under Colonel Despard in August 1845, and served as Actini
Deputy Quarter Master General, and was present at the assault and capture of Kawiti's Pah, at Ruapekapeka on th
nth Jan. 1846 (Brevet of Major, and Medal).
202 Major J. S. Menzies served with the 74th Highlanders in the Indian Mutiny campaign in 1858, and was presen
at the storm and capture of Copaul (Medal).
204 Major H. P. St. J. Mildmay served with the 2nd Battalion of the Grenadier Guards in the Egyptian war
1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served in the Soudai
campaign in 1885 (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Clasp).
205 Major Miller served with the 12th Regiment during the New Zealand war of 1860-61, and was wounded (Breve

206 Major C. G. Minnitt served in the New Zealand war of 1863-66 (Medal).

of Sanganeer, and defeat of the Gwalior rebels at Kotaria on 14th Aug. 1858 (Medal).

2,8 Major Nash served in the American war with the 103rd Regiment, and was present at the action of Lundy's
Lane, storming of Fort Erie, 15th Aug. 1814 — severely wounded in the leg by a musket-ball, and afterwards blows
up by the explosion of a powder magazine; present also in the action at Chippewa.
219 Major Noott served in the White Sea, blockading the Russian ports during the summer of 1854.
220 Major C. G. C. Norton served with the 23rd Fusiliers in the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the relief
of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, defeat of the Gwalior Contingent at Cawnpore, siege and capture of Lucknow, and opera-
tions across the Goomtee under Outram — mentioned in despatches (Medal with two Clasps).
221 Major W. D. Nunn served with the 20th Regiment in the Crimea from the 15th July 1855, including the siege
and fall of Sebastopol ; also at the capture of Kinbourn (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served in the
Indian campaign of 1857-58, including the actions of Chanda, Umeerpore, and Sultanpore, siege and capture of
Lucknow, subsequent operations in Oude and affairs of Mohan, Hussengunge, Meangunge (as Orderly Officer to
Brigadier Evelegh), Churda, Fort of Musjeedia, and Bankee (Medal with Clasp).
222 Major J. A. Nutt served with the Persian Expedition in 1857, including the bombardment and surrender of
Mohumrah, and subsequent pursuit (Medal with Clasp). Was present during the operations against the insurgent
Dessaies in the North Canara and Bedee districts.
:l23 Major O'Conor served with the 17th Regiment in the Crimean campaign from 17th Dec. 1854, including the
siege and fall of Sebastopol, and assault of the Redan on the 18th June — mentioned in despatches (Brevet of Major,
Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
224 Major O'Malley served as second in command with the 18th Punjaub Infantry in the Peshawur Expeditionary
Force on the Eusofzai Frontier in 1858 under Sir Sidney Cotton, and was present in the affair on the Heights
of Sittana, and expulsion of a large body of the Gazzie tribe and Hindostanee fanatics from the village of Seta
(Medal with Clasp).
227 Major J. Paton served with the 4th Regiment throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battle
of Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol — wounded (Medal with two Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, and
Turkish Medal). Served also in the Indian campaign in 1857-58, and succeeded to the command of the Troops at
the attack on the Fort of Beyt 2nd April 1858, on the senior Officer being dangerously wounded (Medal).
228 Major Paul served with the 31st Regiment throughout the Sutlej campaign of 1845-46, including the battles of
Moodkee, Ferozeshah (wounded), Buddiwal, Aliwal, and Sobraon (Medal and three Clasps). Served as Brigade
Major in New Zealand during the operations at Taranaki in 1860-61 (Brevet of Major), and also during hostilities in ■
the Taranaki and Waikato districts in 1863 (mentioned in general orders and despatches, Medal).
2i9 Major Paynter served with the 1st Dragoon Guards in the Crimea from Aug. 1855, including the siege and fall ■
of Sebastopol and battle of Tchernaya (Medal with Clasp).

232 Major Percy served in the Crimea with the 9th Regiment from August 1855, including the siege and fall of I

233 Major Peto served with the 73rd Regiment in the Kalfir war of 1846-47 (Medal).
231 Major C. B. Phillipps served with the 39th Regt. in the Crimea from 31st Dee. 1854, including the siege and fall 1
of Sebastopol, and attacks of the 18th June and 8th Sept. (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
235 Major E. Phillips served the Eastern campaign of 1854-55 with the 8th Hussars, including the battles of

Medal). Served in Rajpootana in 1858-59, was present at the capture of Kotah, and commanded a Squadron of the
8th Hussars in Brigadier Honner's pursuit of the rebels and at their defeat at Koorshana (mentioned in despatches,
Medal with Clasp) .
238 Major Poore served in Rajpootana and Central India in 1858-59 with the 8th Hussars, and was present at the
capture of Kotah, reoccupation of Chundaree, battle of Kotah ke Serai, capture of Gwalior, siege of Powree, and
action of Bejapore — severely wounded (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
239 Major L. C. Potts served as District Adjutant of the Transvaal during the operations against Sekukuni in
1878 ; was with the 80th Regiment in the Column under Colonel Rowlands on the S wazi Border iu 1879, and during
the invasion of Zululand and the engagement at Ulundi (Medal with Clasp).
240 Major Priestley served with the 32nd Light Infantry during the Indian campaign of 1857-58, and was present
with Colonel Maxwell's Column in the operations before Calpee early in 1 858, and proceeded with it to the Alumbagh
during the taking of Lucknow in March 1858. Capture of the intrenched position at Dehaighn and Fort at Tyrool,
actions of Doadpore and Jugdespore, surrender of the forts at Ahmetie and Shunkerpore, and pursuit of Beni
Madhoo across the River Gogra (Medal).
241 Major Queade served with a Detachment of the 12th and 40th Regiments under Captain Thomas at the capture
of a stockade occupied by insurgents at the Ballarat Gold Fields in Australia on the 3rd Dec. 1854.
242 Major Quin served with a force under Sir Charles Napier against the Momund tribes, Peshawur district, in
Nov. and Dec. 1851. Served in the Abyssinian campaign in 1868 as a Brigade Major (mentioned in despatches for
" indefatigable and zealous exertions," Brevet of Major).
243 Major S. L. M. Remmington served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star) ; also served in
the Soudan campaign in 1885 (Clasp).
245 Major Renny served with the 73rd Regiment in the Kaffir war of 1851-53 (Medal), including the operations in
the Amatolas, Fish River, Waterkloof, and Trans-Kei Expeditions.
149 Major C. F. Roberts served in the Crimean campaign from March 1855, and was present in the Trenches
<ivounded) with the Siege Train at the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and bombardments of 6th and 17th June and
17th August, and was severely wounded by the explosion of the French powder magazine in Camp on the 15th
Nov. 1855 (Medal with Clasp, Sardinian and Turkish Medals). Employed in India from January to April 1861 in
.command of the Artillery with the Field Force in Sikkim under Lt. Colonel Gawler, and was mentioned in Orders
by the Governor General for his services (Brevet of Major).
