12 Major Laird served in the Egyptian war in 1882, and was present in the action at Kassasin on the 9th Sep-
tember — severely wounded (mentioned in despatches, Medal, and Khedive's Star).
14 Major Bayspoole served in the Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star).
16 Major Johnston served throughout the Afghan war of 1878-80 with the Royal Horse Artillery and was pre-
sent at the capture of the Peiwar Kotal, in the engagement at Charasiab on the 6th October 1879, and in the
operations around Cabul in December 1879 including the engagement at Killa Khazi and the investment of Sher-
pore (Medal with three Clasps).
,9 Captain Robson served throughout the Afghan war of 1878-80, and was present in the engagements at Saif-
u-deen, Ahmed Kheyl, and Urzoo nearGhuznee (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Soudan campaign in 1885, and
was present in the engagement at Hasheen (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
20 Major Beardsley served in the Afghan war in 1878-79 (Medal). Served in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was
present in the engagements at El Magfar, Tei-el-Mabuta, Mahsama, and Kassasin, and at the battle of Tel-el-
Kebir (mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
21 Captain Rowley served in the Afghan war in 1879-80, and was present at the assault of Zawa (Medal). Served
with theMahsood Wuzeeree Expedition in 1881. Served in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle
of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp).
21 Captain T. Lacey served in theAfghan warof 1378-80. Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1885-87 (Medal
with Clasp).
*) Captain R. Cole served in the campaign on the West Coast of Africa in 1894, and took part in the expedition
to the Gambia against Fodey Silah (Medal with Clasp.)

the Transvaal, east of Pretoria (mentioned in despatches, promotion to rank of Lieut. District Officer, antedated.
Medal with four Clasps).
»0 Lieut. J. T. Newton took pirt in the Egyptian Expedition in 1882 and 1884 (Medal with Clasp, Medal)
Served in the Soudf.n in 1885— Suakin (Clasp). Too't part in the operations on the Nile in 1889.

Clasp). Took part in the Expedition to Manipnr in 1891 (Clasp).
40 Lieut. W. Macdcnald served in the South African war in 1899-1900, and took part in the relief of Ladysmith ;
the operations in the Transvaal in May and June 1900; in Orange River Colony j and in Cape Colony, north of
Orange River, incluiing the engagement at Ruidam.
*3 Lieut. G. Lee served in the Soudan Expedition in 1884-85— Nile ; and was present at the action of Abu Klea—
wounded (Medal with two Clasps, Rronze Star).
