3 Colonel Calley served with 1st Life Guards in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present in the engagements at El
Magfar and Mahsama, in the two actions at Kassasin, at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir, and at the capture of Cairo (Medal
with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served in the South African war in 1899-1900 as second in command of Regiment
of Household Cavalry ; also as Commandant of Cavalry Details at Naauwpoort, afterwards as Camp Commandant at
Kroonstadt ; took part in relief of Kimberley, also operations in Orange Free State Feb. to May 1900 ; at Paardeberg,
and actions at Houtnek, Vet River, and Zand River ; in the Transvaal in May and June 1900, including actions near
Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Diamond Hill ; in Orange River Colony, including action at Bethlehem ; in Cape Colony,
south of Orange River, 1899-1900, including actions at Colesberg (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Colonel, Medal
with five Clasps). p

Orange River, including actions at Colesberg ; was in command of Imperial Yeomanry Battalion 30th Nov. 1901 to 31st
May 1902 ; in the Transvaal July 1901 ; and in Orange River Colony, April 1901 to 31st May 1902 (mentioned in des-
patches, DSO , Medal with five Clasps, King's Medal with two Clasps).
6 Major H.S.H. the Duke of Teck served in South African war in 1899-1900 as Regimental Transport Officer
to Regiment of Household Cavalry ; was present at relief of Kimberley ; took part in operations in Orange Free State
Feb. to May 1900, including operations at Paardeberg, actions at Poplar Grove, Driefontein, Houtnek, Vet River and
