subsequent cavalry pursuit, the two expeditions to Maidan, the engagement at Tukht-i-Shah, and the defence
of Sherpore (Medal wilh two Clasps). Served in the Boer war of 1881 in medical charge of the 9ind Highlanders
210 Lt.Colonel W. H. Smith served throughout the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with th« Cameron Highlanders
(Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served in the operations of the Soudan Frontier Field Force in
1885-86 with the Cameron Highlanders, and was present at Kosheh during its investment, at the reconnaissance
on the 1 6th December, and in the engagement at Giniss.

2IC Lt.Colonel H. Meyrick served with the 10th Regiment in the Perak Expedition in 1875, and was present
when a combined Naval and Military force attacked and captured the Stockades and live guns at Passir Sala
(Medal with Clasp).
217 Lt.Colonel Hon. K. Tumour Fetherstonhaugh served in the Red River Expedition of 1870 ; also with the
3rd Battalion 60th Rifles in the Zulu war of 1879, and was present at the action of Gingindhlovu and relief of
Ekowe (Medal with Clasp). Served as Garrison Ad.jutantat Pietermaritzburg during the Boer war in 1881. Served
with the Hazara Expedition in 1891 with the 1st Battalion King'sRoyal Rifles (Medal with Clasp); also with the
Miranzai Expedition in 1891 with the 1st Battalion King's Royal Rifles, from the 18th April in command of the
Battalion, and was present in the engagements at Sangar and Mastan (mentioned in despatches, Clasp).
218 Lt.Colonel N. Newnham-Davis served with the Carrington Horse (afterwards the 1st squadron mounted infan-
try) in the Kafir war of 1878, and commanded a detachment of mounted infantry in the operations under Colonel
Lanyon against the rebels in the Langeberg, being present at the atfair at Gobctsch heights. Served wit,h Wood's
Flying Column in the Zulu war of 1879 iu command of a troop of mounted infantry, and was present at the taking
of Sirayo's hill and in the engagement at Ulundi (Medal with Clasp).

the thanks of the Government of India, mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp); also served with the
