1 Sir James Rattray served with the 90th Light Infantry in the Crimea from the 4th Dec. 1S54, including th?
tiege and fall of Sevastopol, was severely wounded at the ansault of the Redan on the 8th September (Medal with
Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served also during the Indian campaign of 1857-58, and waspresent with Havelock's
Column at the relief and subsequent defence ofLucknow (twice mentioned in despatches), defence of the Alumbagh
under Outram, and capture ofLucknow by Lord Clyde (Medal with two Clasps, and a year's service).
3 Colonel Cooke served in the South African war in 1899-1900 in command of the 2nd Battalion Scott
Rifleswith the Ladysmith Relief Force, and was present at the battle of Colenso, in the engagements at Spion Kop
and Vaal Krantz, in the operations of 14th to 27th February 1900 including the engagement at Pieter's Hill and
the relief of Ladysmith (mentioned in despatches) ; took part in the subsequent advance through Northern Natal,
and in the operations under Sir Francis Clery in the Transvaal (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Colonel,).

12 Captain Carter-Campbell served in the South African war in 1899-1900 as Adjutant 2nd Battalion Scottish
Rifles with the Ladysmith Relief Force, and was present at the battle of Colenso, in the engagements at Spion Kop

13 Captains Hayes, Dutton, and Northey, and Lieuts. Kerr, Mackinnon, Hamilton, Chisholm, and Ewing served
in the South African war in 1899-1900 with the 2nd Battalion Scottish Rifles with the Ladysmith Relief Force, and
were present at the battle of Colenso, in the engagements at Spion Kop and Vaal Krantz, and the operations of
14th to 27th February 1900 including the engagement at Pieter's Hill and the relief of Ladysmith, took part in the
subsequent advance through Northern Natal, and in the operations under Sir Francis Clery in the Transvaal.
14 Lt.Colonel Walker served with the Benin Expedition under Rear Admiral Rawson in 1897 as special service
officer (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp) ; also served in the operations in the
Northern Territories of the Gold Coast in 1897-08 (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, Clasp).
15 Captain Ellis served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in

Served with the Dongola Expeditionary Force under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1836 on Transport duty, including
the engagement at Firket and the operations at Hafir (mentioned in despatches, British Medal, and Khedive's
Medal with two Clasps).
17 Captain Chaplin served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in
1897-98 with the Tochi Field Force and the Tirah Expeditionary Force with the 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment,
including the expedition to the Bazar Valley (Medal with two Clasps).
ls Captain Stewart and Second Lieut. Wilmer served in the South African war in 1899-1900 with the 2nd Battalion
Scottish Rifles, and took part in the operations under Sir Francis Clery in the Transvaal.

22 Lieut. Maxwell-Scott served in the South African war in 1899-1900 with the 1st Battalion Gloucestershire Regi-
ment, and was present in the engagements at Reitfontein and Lombard's Kop, and at the defence of Ladysmith ; after-
ward! on the Natal Line of Communication with the Drakenberg Defence Force; took part with the 2nd Battalion
Scottish Rifles in the operations under Sir Francis Clery in the Transvaal.
