22 Lt.Oolonel W. R. B. Doran served in the Egyptian warof 1882, and was present at the action at Kassasin on
the 9th September and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and FJiedive's Star) . Served with the Nile
Expedition in 1884-85 with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment and afterwards with Native levies with
therank of Staff Captain (Clasp). Served with the Hazara Expedition in 18S8 as Adjutant to the 2nd Battalion
Royal Irish Regiment, and was present in the engagement at Kotkai (Medal with Clasp). Served in the Soudan
campaign under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1897-93 with the Egyptian Army in charge of Store Depot and
Hospital at Berber, and was present at the battles of the Atbara and at Khartoum in command of an Egyptian
Battalion (twice mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, British Medal, and Khedive's Medal with two Clasps) ;
also served in the subsequent operations resulting in the final defeat of the Khalifa (mentioned in despatches,
