1 Sir Frederick Stephenson served in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles ot Alma, BaiaKiava,
and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol and sortie on the 26th October. Was Military Secretary to the Commander in
C'hief in the Crimea from early in July until Nov. 1855 (Medal with four Clasps, Knight of the Legion of Honor, 4th
Class of the Medjidie, CB., Brevet of Major, and Turkish Medal). Served as Assist. Adjutant General to the expe-
ditionary force in China from March 1857 to 14th Feb. i860, and present at the capture of Canton in Dec. 1857;
and served as Deputy Adjutant General to the force under Sir Hope Grant from 14th Feb. i860 to i6chMarch
1861 ; present at the storming and capture of the Taku Forts, the actions of the 18th and 21st Sept., and
subsequent advance on Pekin (CB., Brevet of Colonel, Medal with three Clasps). Received the thanks of both
Houses of Parliament for his services in connection with the Nile Expedition in 1884-85. Commanded the
Egyptian Frontier Field Force in 1885-S6, which defeated tne enemy at Giniss (trC'-B., and Grand Cross of the
Medjidie).
2 Colonel Graves-Sawle served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the Guards Camel Regiment, and was
preseDt at the actions at Abu Klea and Abu Kru (Medal with two Clasps, and Khedive's Star).
3 Colonel Codrington served in the Egyptian war of 1882 as Aide de Camp to Lieut.General W r illis
Commanding 1st Division, and was present in the engagements at El Magfar, Tel-el-Mahuta, and Kassasin
(9th September), and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir ( mentioned in despatches, Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the
Medjidie, and Khedive's Star). Served in the South African war in 1 899-1 900 with the Kimberley Relief Force,
and was present in the engagements at Belmont and Magersfontein — wounded (mentioned in despatches, Brevet of
Colonel).
4 Lt.Colonel Hon. A. H. Henniker-Major served as Adjutant with the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards in the
Egyptian war of 1882 (Medal, and Khedive's Star). Served in the South A rican war in 1899-1900, and was present
in the engagement at Belmont (mentioned in despatches, CI).).
5 Lt.Colonel Surtees served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 in command of the Turkish Mounted Infantry of
the Egyptian Army and afterwards of a boat convoy (Medal withClasp,4th Class of the Medjidie, and Khedive's
Star). Served with the Egyptian Frontier Field Force in 1885-86, and was present in the engagement at Giniss
in command of the 3rd Camel Corps of the Egyptian Army (4th Class of the Osmanieh). Served in the South
African war in 1899-1900 with the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, in command from 23rd March to nth
December 1900, and was present in the engagements at Belmont, Modder River, and Magersfontein, the advance
10 Bloemfontein and Pretoria, the engagement at Diamond Hill, and the march to Kornati Poort (DSO.)
Major Pleydell-Bouverie served with the 2nd Battalion 01 the Coldstream Guards in the Egyptian war of
1 £82, and was present in the engagement at Tel-el-Mahuta and at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp,
and Khedive's Star). Served in the Bechuanaiand Expedition under Sir Charles Warren in 1884-85.
