THE LAND AND THE PEOPLE \n
Factors in the further dispersal of the last 15 years have been the spread
of car ownership, expansion in public transport serving journeys to work,
private property developments to meet the demand for housing, and planned
transfers of population to the new towns around London, Glasgow, the
West Midlands and Merseyside and to selected expanding towns near to
the great cities.
