The band was ordered to be taken on 28 January. It is
unfit that any person refusing it should keep horses except
those necessary for ploughing or labouring the ground.
They must part with all horses worth £50 Scots or more
before 9 April next, on pain of forfeiture and £100 Scots
fine.

[Begins] The Lords . . . Considering that where by
the 25 Act ...
Anent the soldiers who have deserted the militia.
Edinburgh: 27 March 1678.
Recites the offers made to the King at the restoration of
military service. Eight hundred were recently raised in
Edinburgh and sent against the rebels in the West. Certain
of these have deserted. They are to repair to their colours
at Renfrew before 5 April next. No heretors to resett them.
These to be published and intimated at the several paroch
kirks on Sunday.

Anent ane Embargo.
Edinburgh : 3 April 1678.
By royal letter, 28 March, an embargo is to be put on
all foreign trade. Coasting trade is permitted on good
security being given. This to be published.

As the execrable field conventicles are increasing in num¬
ber a Convention of the Estates is summoned to meet at
Edinburgh 26 June ; the sheriffs to make new elections, if
none have been made this year. This to be proclaimed at
the market crosses.

Council. These to be printed and proclaimed.
