Proclamation Against Conventicles, and other Dis¬
orders.

Arms 232 severally, and year.
All laws and proclamations relating to the Church to be
enforced. Intercommuned persons and their families, and
outed ministers who do not attend worship to be expelled
from all burghs by 1 June next. Eeward of 500 merks for
any heretor, &c., or magistrate intercommuning with such
persons. 500 merks fine on sheriffs not sending in report
of their diligence against conventicles; 500 merks fine on
the magistrates of any royal burgh where conventicles are
found, besides the fine on the burgh, &c. Cites proclama¬
tion 8 April 1669, No. 2328, q.v., making heretors liable for
use of their lands. Heretors of houses now made liable
to a year's rent without relief for every conventicle held
therein. Disorderly marriages and baptisms to be pre¬
vented. Laws against unlicensed pedagogues to be enforced,
fines on their entertainers. These to be proclaimed.

Cites Act of 3 Sept. 1672, with instructions to indulged
outed ministers regarding baptisms, marriages, communion,
preaching only in the kirks, and remaining in the parishes.
Indulged ministers are to obey these orders strictly, and
especially those concerning remaining in the parish, and
celebrating communion on the same day as all other indulged
ministers in the diocese. These to be printed and sent to
the ministers.

Commission has been granted to Major George Grant
until 1 March 1677, for apprehending thieves in Innerness,
Nairn, Murray, Banif, Aberdeen, Mearns, Angus, Perth,
Argyle, Clackmannan, Monteith, Stirling, and Dumbartan.
Notice of thefts to be given in six days to him or Alexander
Campbel of Locdochart at Glenfallach, Thomas Graham
Fiar of Dochryat, the Kirk of Aberfoyle, Charles Stewart,
son of Innercheynachen at Dalnamein in Athol, John Fer-
quhardson of Inneray or Duncan Mckenzie at Castletoun of
Braemar, Mr. Alexander Grant at Ballachastle in Strathspey,
Patrick Grant Baily of Badzenoch or Thomas Mcpherson of
KUly Huntly at Euthven in Badzenoch,, and Alexander

Messrs. James Kirktoun, Alexander Lennox, John Eae,
David Hume, Edward Jameson, Eobert Lockhart, John
Walwood, John Weir, Andrew Donaldson (late of Dalgettie),
Thomas Mcgill, James Wedderburn in Cowper, Thomas
Dowglas, Francis Irving, Alexander Bartrim, and Alexander
Wilson are denounced rebels for not appearing before Privy
Council on 16 July to answer concerning conventicles at
Enderask, Edmonstoun Chapel, Volmet, Corstorphine, Meg-
dalen Chapel, Borthwick, Kirklistoun, Gladsmure, Torwood,
Pitscottle-mure, Eavensheucli, Kinkell, Balmerino, Falkland,
Collessie, Peth-head of Kirkcaldey, Kinneswood, Glenveal,
Sanfoord, Moonsey, Dumfermlin, Dundee, Pettenwyme,
Lathons, Eastbarns, Dumfries, &c., and for intruding on
pulpits at Crawmond, Forgund, Kirkmahoe, &c., in April,
May, and June, 1674. No one is to help them, all are to
arrest them.

The Resident and Conservator of the priviledges of the
subjects of Scotland in the Low Countries have agreed with
the Prince of Orange and the Deputies of Campvere to
re-establish the staple port there, whereupon it is removed
from Dort. These to be printed and proclaimed. The royal
burghs to see that the staple trade is observed.

Cites gift 12 May 1671 to Andro Anderson his Majesties
Printer to be his Majesties absolute and only printer for
forty-one years. To print Acts of Parliament, proclamations,
and other papers relating to public affairs, bibles in all
volumes with the psalms, parts of the bible and testaments,
books of divinity, commentaries, concordances, canon and
civil law, school books, school authors, grammars, rudiments,
psalms, confessions of faith, catechisms, primers, &c. None
to infringe his sole rights. His relict has exhibited three
sorts of printed bibles—a 'pereill' letter with notes 12"
(1673), an 18" in the same letter the same year, and a non-
pereill with notes in 8o (1676). No one to sell or import
such bibles after 1 November on pain of confiscation. These
to be printed and published.
