to aid in maintaining a Sikh Government at Lahore
capable of controlling its army, etc., and thus rescuing
the Sikh Nation from military anarchy. [Given at

the inhabitants of the Punjab. That providing the
relations of friendship are established, and the conditions
fulfilled by the Sikhs and others, they need fear no
