HYMNS.
613,61^
613.
The same.
/"'HIEF Shepherd of thy chosen sheep.
From death and sin set free,
; May ev’ry under shepherd keep
His eye intent on thee!
! With plenteous grace their hearts prepare
i To execute thy will:
Compassion, patience, love and care.
And faithfulness, and skill,
f Inflame their minds with holy zeal
The flock to feed and teach,
! And let them live, and let them feel.
The sacred truths they preach.
£ O never let the sheep complain,
That toys which fools amuse,
< Ambition, pleasure, praise, or gain.
Debase the shepherd’s views.
614.
^Christ's Care of Ministers and Churches. Rev. ii. 1.
4 \ bless th’ eternal source of light.
Who makes the stars to shine ;
And thro’ this dark beclouded world.
Diffuses rays divine.
& We bless the church’s sov’reign King,
Whose golden lamps we are;
' Fix’d in the temples of his love
' To shine with radiance fair.
• 3 Still be our purity preserv’d;
Still fed with oil the flame;
| And in deep characters inscrib’d
.■ Our heav’nly Master’s name.
