II.] HYMNS. 569, 57
rer takes away our all—
s our portion still.
569.
Exhortation to Prayer.
ft^HAT various hindrances we meet,
j ' In coming to a mercy seat!
et who that knows the worth of pray’r,
ut wishes to be often there?
jives exercise to faith and love,
rings ev’ry blessing from above,
i lestraining pray’r, we cease to fight;
rav’r makes the Christian’s armour bright;
ind Satan trembles, when he sees
he weakest saint upon his knees.
Jhile Moses stood with arms spread wide,
access was found on Isra’l’s side ;
when thro’ weariness they fail’d,
that moment Amalek prevail’d,
lave you no words ? ah, think again,
7ords flow apace when you complain,
nd fill your fellow-creature’s ear
ith the sad tale of all your care.
"ere half the breath thus vainly spent,
'J) heav’n in supplication sent;
our cheerful songs would oft’ner be.
Hear what the Lord has done for me.”
570.
Encouragement in Prayer.
j "DE HOLD the throne of grace!
’ The promise calls me near;.
where Jesus shows a gracious face,
|! And waits to answer pray’r.
