HYMNS.
[PARTI1
556, 557
The righteous in their own esteem
Have no acceptance here.
4 Approach, ye poor, nor dare refuse
The banquet spread for you;
Dear Saviour, this is welcome news,
Then I may venture too.
5 If guilt and sin afford a plea,
And may obtain a place.
Surely the Lord will welcome me,
And I shall see his face.
556.
The Gospel Feast. Luke xiv. 16, &c.
1 TJOW rich are thy provisions, Lord!
Thy table furnish’d from above,
The fruits of life o’erspread the board.
The cup o’erflows with heav’nly love.
2 Thine ancient family the Jews
Were first invited to the feast;
We humbly take what they refuse.
And Gentiles thy salvation taste.
3 We are the poor, the blind, the lame.
And help was far, and death was nigh;
But at the gospel call we came.
And ev’ry want receiv’d supply.
4 From the high-way that leads to hell,
From paths of darkness and despair,
Lord, we are come with thee to dwell,
Glad to enjoy thy presence here.
557.
Praise for the Gospel Feast.
1 T ORD, at thy table I behold
-l-i The wonders of thy grace;
But most of all admire that I
Should find a welcome place
