; “For ’twas to Mess such souls as these
! “ The Lord of angels came.”
| 3 We bring them, Lord, m thankful hands.
And yield them up to thee ;
| Joyful, that we ourselves are thine,
Thine let our offspring be.
543*
Children devoted to God in Baptism.
■ 1 C' RE AT God, how condescend
To bless our rising race;
Soon may their willing spirits bend
The subjects of thy grace,
j 2 O what a vast delight
Their happiness to see ?
Our warmest wishes all unite
To lead their souls to thee
3 Now bless, thou God of lov ;,
This ordinance divine;
Send thy good Spirit from above.
And make these children thine.
544.
Pleading for Children.
1 REAT Saviour, who didst condescend
Young children in thine arms t’ embrace.
Still prove thyself the infant’s friead,
Baptize them with thy cleansing grace.
2 Whilst in the slipp’ry paths of youth.
Be thou their guardian and their guide,
I That they, directed by thy truth.
May never from thy precepts slide.
3 To love thy word their hearts incline.
To understand it, light impart;
j O Saviour, consecrate them thine,
Take full possession of their heart.
