% II.] HYMNS.
:ot tents of ease, nor thrones of pow’r,
iould tempt my feet to leave thy door,
bd is our sun, he makes our day;
od is our shield, he guards our way
rom all th’ assaults of hell and sin,
com foes without, and foes within.
11 needful grace will God bestow,
: nd crown that grace with glory too;
fe gives us all things, and withholds
■ So real good from upright souls.
* God, our King, whose sov’reign sway
"he glorious hosts of heav’n obey,
uid devils at thy presence flee,
ilest is the man that trusts in thee.

! iPrayerfor a Blessing upon Public Ordinances.
JESUS, where’er thy people meet,
* There they behold thy mercy-seat;
where’er they seek thee thou art found,
‘■Vnd ev’ry place is hallow’d ground.
Dear Shepherd of thy chosen few !
Thy former mercies here renew;
Here, to our waiting hearts proclaim
The glory of thy saving name.
Here may we prove the pow’r of pray’r,
iTo strengthen faith, and sweeten care ;
To teach our faint desires to rise,
Vknd bring all heav’n before our eyes.
' (Lord, we are few, but thou art near;
!Nor short thine arm, nor deaf thine ear;
Oh rend the heav’ns, come quickly down,
■And make a thousand hearts thine own!
