224,225 HYMNS.
’Till earth’s wild wastes in verdhre rise.
And a young Eden bless our eyes.
224.
T}ie Spirit's Influence, the Source of Lone,
Comfort, (Jfe.
1 POME, Holy Spirit, from above.
Our longing breasts inspire
With the pure flame of heav’nly love.
And fan the sacred fire.
2 Thou comfortest the heavy heart,
By sin and sorrow prest;
Life to the dead thou dost impart,.
And to the weary rest.
3 Let no false comfort lift us up
To confidence that’s vain:
Nor let our courage ever droop.
For whom the Lamb was slain.
4 The Father sent his Son to die.
The willing Son obey’d :
The Witness thou to testify
The purchase Christ has made.
225.
The Holy Spirit's indwelling Presence.
1 A ND will th’ offended God again,
Return and dwell with sinful men ?
Will he within this bosom raise
A living temple to his praise ?
2 The joyful'news transports my breast.
All hail! all hail! thou heav’nly guest 1
Lift up your heads, ye pow’rs within.
And let the King of glory in.
3 Enter, with all thy heav’nly train.
Here live, and here for ever reign;
