K V.] HYMNS. 102, 103
^Mortals, join the host above,
Join to praise redeeming love.
102.
Praise to the Redeemer.
jiLUNG’D in a gulph of dark despair
We wretched sinners lay,
Fithout one cheerful beam of hope.
Or spark of glimm’ring day.
?ith pitying eyes, the Prince of grace
Beheld our helpless grief;
|e saw, and (O amazing love !)
He ran to our relief.
Own from the shining seats above
With joyful haste he fled,
attir’d the grave in mortal flesh,
i JAud dwelt among the dead,
i! for this love, let rocks and hills
'Their lasting silence break,
nd all harmonious human tongues
The Saviour’s praises speak.
Hgels, assist our mighty joys,
Strike all your harps of gold ;
at when you raise your highest notes
His love can ne’er be told.
103.
The same.
i WAKE our souls 1 awake our tongues !
*• ' The subject is divine !
Saviour’s love demands our songs :
i Let all his people join.
• iis Saviour is the mighty God,
1 Who fills the throne above;
i Iveal’d in flesh he shed his blood,
| (And thus declar’d his love.
