THE diving wifdom having refolved to form
the world, and to reduce a wild chaos,
to a fair, regular, and permanent fyflem,
the almighty Architeft not only traced out the
Whole plan of the univerfe, but gave life and being,
form and figure, to every part of what before had
been a rude, indigefted, and immoveable heap of
matter.
When the Fiat for light was given, the dull,
heavy, and terrene parts of matter, which over¬
clouded the expanfum, obeyed the Almighty’s
dommand, and began to range into form and or¬
der. Some fubfided to the centre of the earth ;
but the lucid and fiery particles afcending higher,
leparated the light from the darknefs, ahd made the
firft day and night, which became itiore lucid and
