The Corporation of Glasgow have agreed to
accord a Civic Reception to members of An
Comunn, and Mod competitors on the evening
of Wednesday, 28th September. The recogni¬
tion of the National Mod by the Civic Authori¬
ties in the various towns visited by the Mod is
much appreciated by the members. In a
later issue, members who intend being present
at the Reception will be asked to send their
names to the office of An Comunn.

Season Tickets for An Clachan, which is
one of the most attractive features of the Empire
Exhibition, may be had from the Offices of
An Comunn, price, 5/- for adults and 2/6 for
Juveniles (under 18 on 1st May, 1938). Those
privileged to view An Clachan are confident
that it will rival the 1911 Clachan in its
appropriate setting and true-to-type cottages.

The Annual Gaelic Concert organised by
Ceilidh nan Gaidheal Lunnainn in aid of
Comunn na h-Oigridh funds was held on 18th
February. Mr. Malcolm MacLeod, Glasgow,
presided over a very large audience and the
funds will be augmented by a substantial
sum. We thank our London friends very
cordially for their practical interest in the
movement.
It will be gratifying to members to
know that the Celtic Classes held at
Glasgow University, under the aegis of the
Workers’ Education Association, were well
attended and highly popular. There were 119
students enrolled and the average attendance
was very well maintained. The lecturer was
Mr. Alex. Nicolson, M.A.

The Highlands Committee of the Empire
Exhibition have arranged to publish a Book
dealing with the past and future of the High¬
lands. The title chosen for the book is :—
“ The Highlands and the Highlanders:
The Past and Future of a Race.”
A’ Ghaidhealtachd—A’ Dlleab’s ar Dochas.
It will have an introduction by the Rev. Donald
Lament, D.D., Blair Atholl; a new poem by
the Rev. Lachlan MacLean Watt, D.D., ex-
Moderator of the Church of Scotland Assembly,
and articles on Social Life, Trade, Law, Litera¬
ture and Humour in the days of the Clans.
These are being written by :■—Sheriff Macmastei
Campbell; Mr. William Mackay, solicitor,
Inverness; Dr. John Cameron, solicitor,
Glasgow; Professor Watson of Edinburgh
University ; Dr. D. J. MacLeod, H.M.I.S.
The second half of the Book is concerned with
the future of the Highlands. The Rev. Thomas
Murchison, M.A., Govan, will deal with the need
for a Broader Outlook in Highland affairs, and
chapters on Water Power, Land Settlement,
and Transport will be written by:—
Mr. Alexander Newlands, C.B.E., formerly
Chief Engineer of the L.M.S. Rly. Company ;
Sir John Sutherland, Edinburgh ; Dr. Mclver,
Port William.
The “ Economic Possibilities of the
Highlands ” will be summed up by The Rt.
Hon. Sir Archibald Sinclair, M.P.
