Wha for Scotland's king and law,
Freedom's sword will strongly draw ?
Freeman stand, or freeman fa',
Caledonian, on wi' me.
By oppression's woes and pains ;
By your sons in servile chains,
We will drain our dearest veins,
But they shall be, shall be free.
Lay the proud usurpers low j
Tyrants fall in ev'ry foe ;
Liberty's in ev'ry blow !
Forward — let us do or die.
WEEL MAY WE A* BE,
TO THE SAME AIR.
^Weel may we a' be,
111 may we never see 5
Here's to the king
And the good company.
Fill, fill a bumper high ;
Drain, drain your glasses dry 3
Out upon him, fie ! O fie !
That winna do't agaii*.
