Stirling - 'The Prospect of her Ma'ties Castle of Sterling'

This view of Stirling the castle comes from a viewpoint in the graveyard on the castle's east side. At the right-hand end of the castle, with the round conical towers, is the elaborate and impressive gatehouse. In the foreground is a man out walking his dog, one of the 'clip art' type of figures Slezer put into his engravings.

The monarch at the time this prospect was made was Queen Anne.

This prospect didn't appear in the first edition of Slezer's Theatrum Scotiae, but was used in the 1729 edition.
