Ochtertyre kitchen contents

The contents of the kitchen at Ochtertyre House are listed in the household inventory of 1763.

As well as special 'pewdder [pewter] fish plats', there was a 'Copper fish kettle with a cover and drainer'.

Fish kettles are specially designed pans for cooking whole fish such as salmon and cod. The drainer allows the fish to be easily removed from the pan without breaking it.
