CHAPTER CLXIX.
For, quhen ]?ai bekkire wald or assaill,

And as pa.i bikkerit pare a day,
Off a schot I sail 30W say,
That mony had of it ferly;
Tharfor it now reherft will I. 4670
Will of Spenft persit a bla3one,
And throu thre fald a habimone,
And ane attoun throu thre ply,
And pe arow throu pe. body,
Till of pe dynt doune deid he lay.
And pan pe Muntagw can say :
“ This is ane of my ladyis pynnis ;
Hir amouris to my hert J»us rynnis.”
And till pe segis lestit on J>is wift,
Men sais par fell sein? iuperdyis. 4680
For Lowrens of Prestoun, at pen
Wes haldin ane of pe wichtest men
f. 356 i. That wes in all Scotland pat tyde,
A rout of Inglismen saw ryde,
That semyt gud men and douchty,
And were arrayit iolely;
He, with feware pan pai ware,
Assemblit stoutly on paim pare.
Bot at pe assembling he wes there
In till pe movth strekin wij> a spere, 4690
Quhill it vp to his harnys ran.
Vnto a dyke he drew him pan,
