Class Discussion - Getting going with project

Now you are ready to take everything you have learned and create something amazing with it. By now, of course, you may already have a very clear idea of what you want to create - whether it is a story, a drawing, a piece of music or a model. The research process is bound to have helped you to come up with ideas, even if you are not very sure how to express them.

A class or group discussion is the ideal way to share ideas and suggestions, to help you decide what you are going to create. Usually you can come up with two or three end products - such as a piece of writing, an illustration and a performance or model.

Why not display your work with an exhibition, a book or a website. Invite parents, friends and all the people who helped with your project to a grand opening.

Imagine a class project about flight. The grand opening has factual reports and stories about birds, insects and aircraft. The class trip to a bird colony is documented by a short film. So is the talk from someone’s parent, who works on aircraft and was interviewed by the class. There are illustrations, diagrams and models galore. And look … a fantastic story, fact file, picture and model about a rocket. Thanks to a lot of hard work and inspiration, it’s ready to blast off!
