The Presbyterian minister of Kilmichael of Glasrie in Argyll, the Rev Daniel Campbell, extracted his Sacramental meditations from various sermons. The sermons were originally preached in Gaelic. The Rev David Ewing, a minister in Saltcoats, revised the English edition for the print run produced in Saltcoats. This was already the fourth edition.
