The Church of Scotland's Presbytery of Jedburgh produced the Instructions and warning against perjury and prevarication upon oath. Unfortunately our copy is not complete. Some loss of text has occurred on pages 13-16 due to mutilation of the pages. About the printerJames Palmer printed the Instructions in Kelso in 1782. This is the earliest certain evidence for an item produced on a press in the Scottish Borders. The date of 1770 for first item printed in Peebles is an estimate. See also
