About the printer

Printing in Dundee may have started as early as 1547, but no evidence survives to prove this. The first item known to have been printed in Dundee was the newspaper The Dundee advertiser. It was launched by Henry Galbraith in 1755, but soon failed.

The earliest surviving item which names Dundee as the place of printing and Henry Galbraith as the printer dates from 1757.
