About the printer

George Miller was a bookseller and bookbinder by trade, and he also ran a grocer's shop in Dunbar, East Lothian. In 1795 he got a printing press, and started Dunbar's first printing establishment. The products of his press also include a number of chapbooks – small books printed on coarse paper which were the main reading material for 'common' people at the time.

In 1804 Miller transferred his printing business to the East Lothian market town of Haddington.
