A conference betwixt James a burgher, and John an antiburgher was written by an anonymous minister of the gospel in 1768. It is presented as a dialogue between the two characters James and John. They represented two different factions within the Church of Scotland – the burghers and the antiburghers.

About the printer

John Gemmill established printing in Dalry, Ayrshire. This book and one entitled Plain reasons for being a Christian were printed in 1800. They are the two earliest known products of his press. Gemmill was active in Dalry at least until 1816.
