The protestation of the Generall Assemblie of the Church of Scotland is a document against a proclamation of 29 November 1638 which dissolved the General Assembly. The text was written by Archibald Johnston, Lord Warriston.

About the printer

The printer, George Anderson, set up the first press in Glasgow in late 1638. He printed two items that year.

Anderson had been a printer in Edinburgh. At the invitation of the Glasgow Town Council he moved his printing establishment to Glasgow. There he printed chiefly for the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, which provided a safe source of income. He was active in Glasgow until 1647.
