Printed: Ayr, 1790
Printer: John Wilson

William Dalrymple, a minister in Ayr, wrote Faith in Jesus Christ, supported by plain, popular arguments in 1790. The book was aimed in particular at young people intending to go abroad. Its production appears to have been a non-profit venture: the book was published for the benefit of the poor-house at Ayr.

About the printer

John Wilson was a printer and bookseller in Kilmarnock from 1782 until 1790. He became famous as the publisher of the first edition of Robert Burns' Poems chiefly in the Scottish dialect (1786), which is known as the 'Kilmarnock Burns'.

Wilson moved his printing establishment to Ayr in 1790. He had already established a stationery business there with his brother Peter.
