Title:New Year's day – a poem
Printed:Sanquhar, 1799
Printer:Unknown printer

The author of the New year's day is unknown. This short poem was published along with three others: The curling-match, Curler's epistle, and An elegy on Robespierre. Together, the four poems take up eight small pages.

The Library does not hold a copy of this item, but there is one at the British Library.

About the printer

The printer's name does not appear in the item. The booklet was printed "For T. Brown, Sanquhar". This suggests that T. Brown was a bookseller or publisher rather than the printer.

It is possible that he is the same Thomas Brown who worked as a printer in Selkirk from 1817 onwards. That Thomas Brown was also a bookseller, bookbinder and chemist.
