Six excellent songs is a chapbook. It contains the texts of six Scottish folk songs, among them John Anderson my Jo, and The gallant weaver. The item is undated. The Library does not hold a copy of this item, but there is one at the University of California Libraries.

About the printer

Joseph M'Nairn was a printer, bookseller and bookbinder, and from 1837 he also maintained a circulating library in Newton Stewart. He printed a series of cheap tracts and a large number of chapbooks. These contain between three and seven traditional Scottish songs. None of them have a printing date.
