View of Fairlie rock and Knock Hill in the distance, Ayrshire. Now known as Knox’s Rock, this was the old pier from which the famous Kaim Hill millstones were shipped round the world. The present name derives from Knox White, who rented boats to summer visitors at the end of the nineteenth century.
