Full description: A small military band has been drawn up in formation while a conductor stands at the front facing them. The ground looks very rough and is covered with ice and snow.

Diversions like forming a band not only allowed relaxation but also gave the soldiers a sense of normality and avenue to practice civilian skills. Scenes like these were commonly used as propaganda intended to reassure those at home.
