Deposition from the Cross (miniature)
Full-page miniature of the Deposition of Christ from the Cross. Joseph of Arimathea receives the body of Christ (cf. Matthew 27.57-58; Mark 15.42-45; Luke 23.50-53; John 19.38). This miniature and that on facing leaf were intended to be seen as a diptych. The post-Reformation caption beneath the picture reads: 'Josep [-] Crist'.
