Plague in Scotland : Last outbreak

The last plague outbreak in Scotland occurred in August and September 1900 in Glasgow. It is thought that the contagion was carried by rats acting as hosts to fleas, which came to Scotland on international shipping routes. A total of 36 people were infected, and 16 of them died because the disease wasn't immediately recognised for what it was.
