The variety of material in the John Murray Archive can enrich and support learning throughout the curriculum. Our workshops and teaching resources are designed to challenge, engage and motivate pupils as well as supporting the development of:

To celebrate Darwin's 200th birthday and the 150th anniversary of John Murray publishing Darwin's 'On the Origin of Species', we will be hosting Darwin anniversary events for primary pupils and teachers.
Great Escapes
The Great Escapes online resource is a step-by-step guide to creating a Great Escape travel guide based on John Murray's 'Handbooks for Travellers'. It includes activities for teachers to use with interactive whiteboards, as well as downloadable lesson plans and activity sheets to print off. The resource has accompanying teachers' notes and curriculum links, with a gallery of Great Escapes created by pupils.

This pack teachers' pack for schools includes a series of activities focusing on historical study skills and the Victorians. It can be used as a stand-alone resource or to support visits to the John Murray Archive exhibition.
