Hill Fort Walk, Salen

This tour from the village of Salen to an ancient local hill fort focuses on the natural environment along the route, highlighting the wildlife and plants you might see. It is narrated in English and Gaelic.

You can also find out about some local history and stories, including the story of the wrecked boats on the shore just outside the village that intrigue many people who pass them on the road.

Practical information

The walk will take approximately one hour and 30 minutes.

Start in the centre of the village of Salen and continue out of the village on the coast road and then along a footpath to a local hill fort.

The route runs through farmland so please ensure you consider the countryside code.
