Selected pages from Sir Charles Lyell's 'Principles of Geology', 1830-33

John Murray published Lyell's three-volume work 'Principles of Geology'. The book argued that the world had not been shaped by unique catastrophes and supernatural events. Instead, it had been affected over a long period of time by small, ongoing geological changes.
