cause Sir Thomas Henley did, contrary to truth and
Ids own knowledge, enter into the foresaid recognis-
ance or obligation which, ipso facto, became for-
feited, he having security from Eoberts and Sheppard
to be saved harmless therefrom : May it please your
most excellent Majesty to bestow the forfeiture of
the said obligation or recognisance upon your humble
petitioner. And he will ever pray, as in duty," etc.
A reference at the side is as follows : —
"The Court at Whitehall, 16 March 1616(-17).
" His Majesty's pleasure is, that the Lord Viscount
Wallingford should call Sir Thomas Henley before
him, and examine him of the particulars contained
in the petition. And if it shall appear that the re-
cognisance within mentioned is forfeited to his Ma-
jesty, then is his Lordship to give present order that
the petitioner may proceed to recover the forfeiture
thereof, upon whom his Majesty hath been pleased to
bestow. Payre Winwood."
