but were agreeably difappointed in that

11. In the evening, I came off my
command in the trenches. Juft before I
came out, the enemy began to throw
bombs, grenades, and ftones from the
town, and all the night following have
plyed our trenches very hot with all thefe,
efpecially ftones, whereby many of our
men are wounded. Thou giveft thine
angels charge over me, that I dafli not
jny foot againft a ftone.
14. This day we went into the trenches.
At two o'clock they beat the chamade,
and hung out a white flag to capitulate,
which was a very acceptable light to us
all, for it has been a very toilfome, long,
