In continuing my account of John Earl of Gowrie,
I am to rely much on the authority of Calderwood's
imprinted History of the Church of Scotland ; and
will also make use of the two MSS. which I men-
tioned in my List of Tracts on the Gowrie Con-
spiracy ; to the first of which 1 gave the name or
the Edinburgh MS. and to the other, though I am
not certain who the author was, I gave the name
of Stewart's Collections.
