Biggar and the House of Fleming

PREFACE.
The following work was for several years out of print. As it
still continued to be greatly sought after, it was resolved to
publish a new edition. Advantage has been taken of the new
issue to subject it to a careful revision, and to add to it a con-
siderable amount of new matter, comprising biographical
sketches, amusing incidents, local illustrations, &c. A number
of additional engravings have also been given. On these ac-
counts, it is hoped that it will be found more acceptable to the
inhabitants of the district, as well as to other persons, who
take an interest in Scottish antiquities and topography.
