2. WALTER OLYFARD no Doubt the Son of the former. He
is mentioned by Mr. Rymer in the Foedera Angliæ when there
were certain Conditions agreed upon betwixt King William of
Scotland and King Henry of England. For the Observation
of them there were given by King William these Hostages
Richard Morvel Constable of Scotland, Walter Olyfard Philip
de Colvil &c. Anno . . . . . . 1174

ALSO in a Charter by William King of the Scots (Waltero
de Berkly Camerario meo per rectas dimensas suas
tenend: &c.) the Witnesses are Earl Walden, Earl Dunet,
Earl Gilleberto, Richard de Morvill Const. Walter Olifard,
Williel. de Lindesi, Williel. de Haia apud Kinghorn. This
Richard de Morvill Constab. the Abbacy of Melross
died

GENER. DRUMMOND gives Account in his History of Drum-
monds That this Walter Olifard married Christian Daughter
to Fereth or Ferchard Earl of Strathern, with whom he
obtained the Lands or Parioch of Strageth, the Church of
which he mortified to the Abbacy of Inchefray founded by
Gilbert Earl of Strathern his Brother in Law Anno . 1200

THE same Walter Elifend, for so he is named by Mr.
Rymer and designed Justiciarius Laudoniæ, is One of the
Nobles who swore That King Alexander of Scotland should
not resile from marrying Jean Sister to the King of Eng-
land . . . . . . . . . . 1221

3. WALTER OLIPHART, it may be the same, but rather the
Son of the former, did according to Gen. Drummond exchange
the Lands of Strageth with Gilbert Earl of Strathern his
Uncle for other Lands about the Year

THE same Walter in a Charter by King Alexander the
Second to the Monks of Couper is insert Witness (immediately
after W. Son of Alan Senescall-Justiciar. Scot.) and designed
Justiciarius Laudoniæ the Twenty First Year of the said King's
Reign and . . . . . . . . . 1234

HE is also Witness in another Charter by that King to
Hugh the Son of Simon of the Lands of Dalnotter, and is
