| Description | A badly bombed or shelled village. It is a depressing scene of destruction and devastation. On the right, one building has completely collapsed - those left standing are badly damaged and possibly beyond repair. The ground is strewn with rubble and debris, and a cloth banner hangs limply across the street on the left. A line of trees, miraculously untouched, are present in this otherwise lifeless scene. Regardless of which side caused the actual damage, the Government and Military often used such images as propaganda. By blaming the enemy for such wanton destruction, they hoped to strengthen feelings of antipathy towards the enemy.
