| Description | Prisoners are resting by the roadside. Most of the men are sitting on a steep grassy bank. It is possible some of those in charge of the prisoners are Australian soldiers, normally distinguishable to the layperson by their distinctive hats. In the background a town or village skyline is visible. Images of German prisoners, captured German trenches and recovered German weapons were often used as propaganda by the Allies. They were intended to boost morale amongst the troops and reassure those at home. It was important for people to see evidence of the Allies' 'advance towards victory'.
