| Description | French film maker and wounded Highlander, France. John Warwick Brooke took this photograph of a French film maker at work filming a wounded soldier from one of the Scottish regiments. There is a strong contrast between the film maker in his immaculate French army uniform and his subject, a muddy kilted Highlander with a bandaged head. This is an interesting reminder that film photography was in use during the First World War. It also suggests that, at times, Allied photographers used the same 'photo opportunities.'] possible, with as much variety as possible; a difficult task for two men covering an army of over two million. Despite this, Warwick Brooke managed to take what would become some of the most memorable images of World War [Original reads: 'The French Official Cinematographer taking a close picture of one of our wounded.'] |
