Das Original dieses xylographischen Druckes eines Moral - play befindet sich in der Sammlung des Buchhändler T. O. WEIGEL in LEIPZIG.
Das Papier ist ziemlich stark, ohne Wasserzeichen und die Druckfarbe sehr schwarz. Oben und unten, so wie vorn ist vom Texte weg-
geschnitten und nur nocb wie in obiger Copie fragmentarisch vorhanden. Höhe 16 Z. 6 L., Breite 12 Z. 8 L.

| Description | " ... Princes for theyr offence Bur certainly subdued should I be If that I wanted the helpe of prudence". There is an inscription in German dating the sheet to 1856. Attached to the sheet is a hand-written note which reads - "Fac-simile made in Leipzig of a single page of an old interlude on morality in English - probably the oldest piece printed in our language : it contains speeches in verse by Charity, Temperance, Justice, Hope and Prudence. It was put forth early in the infancy of the art, but from whose type has not been ascertained. The page is of unusual size. The original was found in Germany". |
